The Seventy Week Prophecy continued
"Seventy of sevens" are determined upon thy (the House of Judah, the Jews) people.
This prophecy is the "y" in the last day doctrinal roadway!

The city and the sanctuary was built under Ezra
Now Judah was waiting for the Messiah
The Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus, the Messiah did come "unto His own" (John.1:11)
to "confirm" the covenant

that God had made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.(Gal.3:16-17, Rom.15:8) Jesus said "Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad." (John.8:56) People were looking for Messiah. (John.1:35-42;4:25, Acts.5:33-42)

After 62 weeks (434 years) Messiah would be "cut off." (Dan.9:26)

The House of Judah (i.e. The Jews, the children of the flesh of Abraham)
"cut" Messiah "off"
(Dan.9:26, Isa.53:8) while He was confirming the covenant "for the father's sake." (Rom.11:28Note: This is where "reconciliation for iniquity" takes place. (Dan.9:24, Eph.2:11-19, Rom.5:10, 2Cor.5:18)

Remember - Reconciliation must take place within these 70 weeks, because it is part of the purpose, and there is only one week (or 7 years) left

At the Cross we were bought (i.e. redeemed) with a price, the sinless blood of Christ. (1Cor.6:20, 1Peter.1:18-20, Exod.30:12 / Num.31:50 / Mat.5:17-19) The Old Covenant, sin was covered by the blood of innocent animal sacrifice, but could never take sin away. (Heb.9-10) "But this man, (Phil.2:6-8) after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever  sat down on the right hand of God." (Heb.10:12) leaving no place for animal sacrifices again.

"And the people of the prince...shall destroy the city and the sanctuary"

Note: This is after Messiah is cut off, i.e. after the crucifixion. Jesus told the disciples to watch for this. (Matt.24:15, Mark.13:14, Luke.21:20-24) The City and the Sanctuary was made desolate by Titus 70 A.D. Daniel prophesied there would be a flood (Armies) and the end of the war desolation's (destruction) are determined. The reason the City and the Sanctuary was destroyed was because Israel rejected Christ's blood, and continued to offer the blood sacrifice of animals. This abomination, God made desolate and has caused it to "overspread" until the consummation. (the end) (Dan.9:27, Luke.21:24, Rom.11:25) Leaving NO place for the "abomination of desolation" to happen again!

"And he (Christ) shall confirm a covenant for one week"

Some think that "he" is the prince of the people that shall come, meaning the antichrist. In this prophecy, the prince that should come is Titus, not the antichrist. "He" in t
he context of this prophecy is Christ the Messiah, because (1) The purpose (Dan.9:24) can only be fulfilled in Christ. (2) The restoring of building of Jerusalem was to provide a beginning place to measure time until Christ the Messiah. (3) Then the prophecy speaks of Christ being "cut off but not for Himself." These are some more reasons why "he" is Christ the Messiah.

He shall confirm and covenant for one week (7 years) Dan.9:27

To confirm, is to strengthen what is already made, not make something new.
The entire week (7 years) is for confirmation. Whoever "he" is, must confirm for seven years. Some say this is the antichrist who makes a seven year covenant with the Jews, then changes his mind. The verse does not say that. It says "he" shall confirm for one week.(7 years) There is no changing after three and a half years.

"And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease" (Dan.9:27)

After three and a half years, Jesus caused "the sacrifice and oblation (offerings) to cease. (Heb.10:1-10, Rom.10:4, Matt.5:17-19) Jesus was anointed as the Messiah (John.1:29-42) at the age of 30, (Luke.3:23, Num.4:3,23,30,35 / Matt.5:17-19) and ministered for a period of time before celebrating His first Passover.(John.2:13-25) The second Passover was recorded in John:5:1. The Third Passover was when Jesus was crucified as the true Passover. (Matt.26:20, 1Cor.5:7-8, Col.2:16 "holy days"- Feast days. Lev.23 / Passover came once a year)

Some say that this is the antichrist taking away the "daily sacrifice" (Dan.8:13;11:31) However, these two references are history to us. (Review Page 1) Their reason for concluding this is because they are looking for the antichrist to allow the Jews to rebuild the Temple, and the reinstate animals sacrifices again.

Acts.7:47-48 clearly says,"Howbeit the Most High dwelleth NOT in temples made with hands." The only Temple of God , after the Cross, is the Church. (Eze.10:18, Matt.17:1-8 / John.2:18-20, Eph.1:22-23, 1Tim.3:15) To offer animal sacrifices to God, after He had offered up His only begotten Son, is an abomination.

Messiah was cut off after three and a half years, leaving three and a half years to be fulfilled.

Where is that remaining three and a half weeks?

There would be 7 weeks (49 years) to rebuild the City and the Sanctuary. Then there would be a wait for 62 weeks (434 years) until Christ, the Messiah. After Jesus is revealed as the Messiah, He is cut off after three and a half years while confirming the covenant that God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Then comes Titus 70 A.D., and destroys the city and the Sanctuary, because Israel continued to offer animal sacrifices after Christ had shed His innocent, sinless blood. God made this abomination desolate and caused it to overspread until our day, and to the end. This leaves no place for it to happen again. Now the question is,

Where in the "consummation" (the end) is there a  remaining three and a half years of confirmation at the end, before Christ returns? Yes there is!

The three and a half years is found in the Book of Daniel and Revelation

In the Book of Daniel and Revelation there is a three and a half period at the time of the end. It is also called, 42 months, 1260 days, time, times and half a time. (Rev.11:2,3;12:6,14. Dan.7:25 "time, times and dividing of times" Rev.13:5) During this three and a half years, the two witnesses are prophesying in Jerusalem, tormenting "them that dwell on the earth." (Rev.11:1-13) At the same time there is an antichrist, who also has power to continue 42 months.

The two witnesses confirm the remaining three and half years of the covenant (Rev.11:1-12)

The reason for this conclusion is, 1. They are Moses, (Rev.11:6, Exod.7:19) and Elijah.(Rev.11:6, 1Kings.17:1, James.5:16-172. They represent the Law (Moses) and the Prophets (Elijah). Abraham told the rich man, that Israel will only hear the Law and the Prophets. They will not believe someone back from the dead. (Luke.16:31) The Jew today will only hear the Law and the Prophets. 3. Moses and Elijah witnessed the Resurrected Christ. (Matt.17:1-6, Note: Rom.3:21-314. They are prophesying at Jerusalem where Messiah was "cut off" in the midst of the week.

All these conclusions together declares how God will honor His Covenant (Heb.6:16-18) with the Jews. That Covenant is that Christ is the Messiah. (Rom.11:28) Note this: A
t the same three and a half period of time, the antichrist is declaring himself to be God manifest in the flesh, deceiving with a false confirmation.

Compare Romans 9, 10 and 11

Romans 9 speaks of Israel being given the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the law, the service (Tabernacle) of God, the promises, and as concerning the flesh Christ came. (Rom.9:1-5) However, they mocked the only begotten Son, as Ishmael did with Isaac. They despised their birthright as Esau did with Jacob, and God gave the birthright to the Church.(Rom.9:6-33, Heb.12:13) Paul says, "Did Israel (the children of the flesh of Abraham) not know?" that Christ was coming. Yes they did! Moses warned them. (Deut.32:21, Rom.10:19) Isaiah warned them. (Rom.10:20, Isa.65:1) Paul continues by says, "Hath God cast away His people? God forbid. For I am an Israelite" I am saved, I accepted Christ the Messiah. (Rom.11:1) God is not willing that ANY should perish. (2Peter.3:9) In the meanwhile, God has blinded there eyes, and hardened their hearts until the "fullness (or the full number of the Gentiles( be come in."(Rom.11:25, Luke.21:24) after which He will deal with Israel again. (Moses and Elijah confirming the remainder of the covenant).

Summary of Daniel's Visions and Prophecies

God still has his Covenantal hand upon Israel (the Jew) today. The reason is because God has not finished confirming the covenant in Christ to them. (Gal.3:16-17, Dan.9:27) Paul says, "If they abide still not in unbelief they (the children of the flesh of Abraham) shall be grafted...in again." (Rom.11:23) It is important to realize that God's future dealings with Israel is not because they are the purpose, but it is to bring them to Christ. (The remainder of the Covenant) God's Purpose is His Church, that includes Jew and Gentile together. (Eph.2:1-22, Eph.3:1-12) Israel was an important part of the purpose, the Church. (Rom.9:1-5, Matt.16:18)

Some questions? Why would God bless a rebuilt Temple, that was left desolate, and fill it with His Glory after Jesus said that His Body is the Temple of God. (John.2:18-20) Why would the antichrist be interested in a rebuilt Temple that does not have God's name recorded on it? (Note: 2Thes.2:4) Why would God receive animal sacrifices again after the blood atonement of Christ? (Heb.9-10The answer is He does not! God's only purpose for dealing with Israel in that three and a half years, is to confirm the covenant that is in Christ.

Therefore, when the prophets spoke of the Temple in the last days, they were speaking of the Church. This is why the last week of Daniel's 70 weeks is pivotal. If you give the week to the antichrist, then you will give all the thoughts of restoration to a natural Temple in Jerusalem. If you give the last week to Christ, then you we see how God has, is and is yet to restore His Church, the Temple of God.
